Best time for momiji in Tohoku?

Hi there. I will get a free ticket to Japan and can use within early Dec. Actually I lived in Japan for 2 years and been to many places except Tohoku area and Shikoku. So my plan this time is to go ''momijigari'' in Tohoku area.
Could you please suggest when is the best time to visit there? Early November will be too late? Where can I check info about momiji in Tohoku? I want to know the period first so I can book ticket. I'll ask for help about itinerary again. Thanks a lot!

Generally, the best time for momiji in Tohoku area is around mid to late October. Early November may be too late depending on the spot. You can check updated info about "momiji front" all over Japan on this site (Japanese only): http://kouyou.nihon-kankou.or.jp/
