email charset from japanese phone 2007/10/8 03:09
When I receive email from a japanese email client, even the message itself is entirely written in ASCII, my Sony Ericsson phone shows the error message ''unsupported character set''. It seems that most SE phones can accept only messages in encoding ISO-8859-1 and that most japanese phones are using encoding ISO-2022-JP for even sending ASCII email messages. I have asked SE to fix the problem by at least displaying all messages in ISO-8859-1 so that all ASCII characters remain readable. But I don't know if and when they fix it. So my question is, do japanese phones offer an option to chanage the character encoding for sending email messages?

Please let me know.
Thank you.
