Tokyo festivals on Nov 3? 2007/10/16 16:01
Believe there is the Tokyo Jidai Matsuri in Asakusa. What time is this parade? Also what are the Bunka No Hi activities at the Meiji Shrine and times? As unlikely to get to both what is recommended for the first time visitor and what are the differences between the two locations? Thanks in advance for any advice.

As for jidai matsuri, you can get info in English on this web site.

http://www.e-asakusa.jp/event/0711_jidai_e.html

The main show events starting from 9:00 on Nov 3 at Meiji shrine are various martial arts demonstrations like kyudo, aikido and yabusame, which you may find quite spectacular if you are into those kind of things.

The information you have provided is most helpful. The link for the Jidai Matsuri is excellent and it is good to have the start time for activities at the Meiji Shrine.

Kyoto on 3 Nov 2007/10/27 14:55
There will be no special celebration on 3 Nov in Kyoto but the imperial palace in Kyoto Gyoen will be open to the public from 3-7 Nov (9:00-15:00) and on 6 and 7 Nov, you can see the koto or gagaku music live performances within the site (starting at 10:00/11:00.)

As for any festivals and other events to be held next month in Kyoto, see this web site:
