Hi guys,
This place is great. Found it to be very informative for my upcoming trip to Japan.
Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me answer whether or not shops are open, i.e. shops in Akihabara during the period 23-25 Decemeber. The reason I ask is that I know the 23rd is the emperor's birthday and 24th being Christmas eve.
I leave on Christmas eve and am planning to do the bulk of my shopping around this time. Just hoping to get some idea whether or not I will have to go back to Tokyo early.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Hung

Hung,
All shops and tourist attractions are normally open om national holidays. The 24th is also a national holiday this year because the 23rd falls on a Sunday, but Christmas itself is irrelevant in the Japanese calendar.
