tattoo translation

Hi, my friend wants to get a tatto in japanese(lame, i know). He wants to use the phrase "no fear" . Will someone please help in translating that. He thinks its a form of 恐れ無し but wants to be sure before he gets it and it means something else. thanks!

Yep, the Japanese is correct. But do be sure to get it done in MS Mincho font, preferably with one or two characters inexplicably inverted and with strokes missing. ;-)

I don't think any of you want to get something that makes you a laughing stock or gives you stares from native speakers on your body which would remain almost permanently...

Please note that 恐れ無し is *literally* "no fear," but it does not really come across as anything cool in Japanese... it simply is a plain sentence saying "There is no fear." Some things simply don't translate well, some take on different nuances when translated literally, some don't carry the "coolness" there is in one language into another... IMHO, getting "No fear" in ENGLISH in beautiful script style is far better than getting 恐れ無し in boring, print-style font. Well, but it's up to your friend to do it :)

I think that it is "怖い物無し" that the meaning is near "no fear".

The meaning looks like "無敵" (invincibility)

It was not "怖い物無し" but it was "怖い物知らず".

To me (I'm Japanese) anything with hiragana such as 恐れ無し, 怖い物知らず look rather funny and strange as tattoo, not cool at all.

They are grammatically correct but it's different when it comes to tats.
