Shin Hotaka

I was wondering if someone could look at the following link and tell me if this ryokan is actually in Shin hotaka (as opposed to Hotaka which I think are 2 different places) I am searching off a Japanese map and not sure if I am looking in the right area. Many thanks Sue

It is located in Shin-Hotaka Onsen, Okuhida, Gifu Prefecture as opposed to Hotaka town in Nagano Prefecture.

just want to mention that your Shin -Hotaka is actually Shin Hodaka.

so the place is called Shin Hodaka with 'da' not 'ka'.

BTW, do you happen to know driving time Matsumoto to Shinhodaka- am going by train from Shinjuku then hire car when we get there, assume Matsumoto is the logical place to do this?? Thanks.

thru the bus schedules it's about 35 minutes plus. It may be about that from eki.
matsumoto eki rent a car----0263-32-7625

There also seemed to be highway bus from Shinjuku to Hirayu which is 4 1/2 hrs.

It takes about 90 minutes, not 35!

oops sorry about that i don't know what i was looking at. I must have been gazing at a wrong chart.
Can't compare to bus schedules too closely to car driving time anyways.

it looks like it's about 1 1/2hrs to Hirayu from Matsumoto eki and takes up to about 2 1/2 hrs on the bus to Shin Hodaka but that is hard to say depending on if the bus makes stops.
My book doesn't show Nagano side of map, just Matsumoto that way on the left hand side.

*It does say driving time from Tokyo to Shin Hodaka is about 5 1/2 hrs （5時間 ３０分ほど).
*Going from Takayama city to Mataumoto 1C is yaku89km（約８９km）2hrs and 20 minutes.

From Takayama eki on the bus, it's about 90 minutes to Shin Hodoka onsen,
to Karukaya it is 1hr and 21 minutes.
But this won't help you coming from Matsumoto.
Sorry this book doesn't contain info of Nagano side. It's only for hida Takayama, Gifu area
