We will arrive at Nakita airport (probably sleep-deprived) at about 10am and would like to go direct to Hakone. Is this possible or must we take a train into Tokyo and change lines there?

I know there is a bus from Odawara to Narita Airport. I took it in November. It is a long trip - about two and a half hours. I went that way as I had a broken foot and it was easier than the train. I think you'd do better with the train. This is the website (in Japanese) http://www.fujikyu.co.jp/syonan/narita-highway2.htmlYou can probably make further bus connections from Odawara. Hopefully someone else will answer with some more info for you. Enjoy!

Seems you need to trains to Hakone with one transfer at Shinjuku. The next bus to Odawara is 15:40hrs, according to the info provided by above poster. First, buy a Suica & NEX card for 3,500yen. http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/suica-nex/index.htmlThe best connection would be as follows; Narita Airport 11:16--JR Narita Express--12:30 Shinjuku 12:40--Odakyu Romance Car Hakone--14:05 Hakone-Yumoto The Narita Express segmant is covered by the Suica & Nex, and the Odakyu segment costs 2,020yen (Base fare: 1,150, Limited Express Fee: 870). The base fare portion can be covered by the suica deposit of 1,500yen, but I don't know well if the limited express portion will be covered as well, though I think so.
