Kyoto to Himeji

Im considering going from Kyoto to Himeji by limited express. I could not understand the time table I saw. Do I have to change in Osaka? The timetable shows only a 2 minute gap to presumably change trains, which is surely impossible?

Thanks. Is this service service, the Shin-Kaisoku, the service list as "Special Rapid express" on hyperdia?
Is there any change at all on that service?

Sorry, my last question was kinda garbled.
What I was trying to ask is...
a) Are the Shin Kaisoku and Special Rapid service the same thing?
b) Is there any change at all on this service between Kyoto and Himeji?

Yes.

No, nearly all Shinkaisoku trains go directly to Himeji.
The train runs every 15 minutes in the daytime and takes 1 hour and a half from Kyoto to Himeji.

Thanks, one more question, is there anywhere where the full timetable/s is shown, rather than Hyperdia, which shows only trains at particular times?

Is it necessary to reserve a seat? Is there a timetable for the reverse journey?

No these trains are unreserved.
As for the return timetables, again, these trains run about every 15 minutes.

If you are looking at the hyperdia timetable you can see those trains are through trains at Shin-Osaka, meaning you don't need to get off, if that is the 2 minute transfers you are talking about.
