Sentence Help 2008/1/14 14:28
Am I even close here? This is the title of an article about a band:

私達の音楽を真剣に聴いてくれた上で文句を言うのならしょうがないけど、聴こうともせずに色々言うのはフェアじゃないわ

"Although it can't be helped if people say things about the seriousness of our music, it's not fair to say these things without actually listening to it."

I get the feeling I'm waaay off. Help is appreciated.

"Although it can't be helped if people say things about our music after listening to our music in earnest, it's not fair to say these things without actually listening to it."

I put the corrected part in italics. The only major part missed was where the "serious" bit fits into :) 真剣に is an adverb, in this case describing how you listen to the music.

Other bits that are not critical:

文句を言う = complain

聴こうともせずに = without even bothering to listen to it

Ohhh!! So it should have been read like, ''seriously listen''.

And I didn't know 文句を言う meant ''complain''! :)

Thank you so much!
