Am going to Japan in just over a week and will be taking several of my photos as gifts.
However, I need to know if it possible to easily buy photo frames that will fit these photos so that I can present them appropriately to the recipient.

You really shouldn't have a problem. I would expect you to be able to find them at large camera stores like Yodabashi, department stores or Muji.
