working holiday visa medical 2008/1/17 23:11
Hi

I am a Canadian in Japan on a working holiday visa. I only got 6 months travel insurance when I left (oops). I had to visit the doctor once while in Japan so my insurance in Canada won't renew it for me.

My question is can I get some other kind of insurance in Japan for 6 months or do I have to go back to Canada and get travel insurance there. And also will getting insurance in Japan cost me an arm and a leg!!

Do you plan to stay in Japan for one year or longer?
If so you can qualify for Japanese National Health Insurance.

Your local ward office. The same ward office where you got your ARC.

From my understanding It is required that everyone residing in Japan one year or more join National Health Insurance or Worker's Health Insurance.
