Exchange Student Expenses 2008/1/20 19:33
I'm going on an exchange to Japan in March this year. I have been advised by my exchange program that i should have $350 (AUD) per month for general spending money, i.e movies, eating out etc. I have already budgeted for $400 a month instead. Do you guys think that i should take more money than this or do you think it will be enough, i'm really concerned about my money situation. I'm not a party animal and i'm quite content with just going out and looking at things in nature for free, but i would still like to live there comfortably.

~Incase you were wondering i'm staying in Akita, Japan~

Thanks for any info you guys can give!!

100 per week 2008/1/20 21:49
$100 per week is not a whole lot of money for going out. i assume you are doing a homestay so all your meals etc are provided so this is purely discretionary spending money.

japan is not that expensive and so your money will go slightly further than back in australia.
