totan and kigasuru

Need your help...
Is the following sentence correct?
いつも　食べた　とたんに、　眠いような気がする.

I am trying to say "Everytime i finish eating i feel drowsy.

いつも　食べた　とたんに、　眠いような気がする.
I am trying to say "Everytime i finish eating i feel drowsy

It is understandable but this will be more natural.
いつも　食べたとたんに　眠くなる

If you want to emphasize that as soon as you've FINISHED eating, you could also say:
いつも　食べ終わったとたんに　眠くなる

The second part should be 眠くなる as JLady has already suggested, because "....(shita) totan ni" is more like talking about the _moment_, "upon having done something..." or "as soon as (I've) done something," so it should be that "I become drowsy" at that moment. So rather than 眠い (feel drowsy), 眠くなる (become drowsy) would be better.

Also, to say "I feel drowsy," "I am drowsy," you can simply say 眠い. 眠いような気がする would be something like "I feel as if I am drowsy," or "I get the impression I am sleepy."

Well, 途端 (totan) is used to express that something happens immediately after another action, and it expresses a certain degree of being surprised at that event.

I'd say:
食べ終わる時にいつも眠くなる。
Tabeowaru toki ni itsumo nemuku naru.

Of course, you can change the position of ''itsumo'' without altering the meaning.

A phrase with totan would be:
部屋に入った途端に寝てしまった
Heya ni haitta totan ni nete shimatta.

I feel asleep as soon as I entered my room.

Better to say:
食べるといつもすぐに眠くなる

taberu to itsumo suguni nemukunaru

We don't use 途端(totan) in this case. すぐに(suguni:just after) sounds better.

yes, I agree with last poster. A practical casual phrase is "taberuto sugu nemukunaru"
食べるとすぐ眠くなる。
After meal I get sleepy. I get sleepy after eating. etc (in these mode)

日本語が　難しくても、いっしょうけんめいに　勉強します。(Even if Japanese is difficult, I will do my best to study.)

日本語は　難しいですが、いっしょうけんめいに　勉強します。(Japanese is difficult, but I will do my best to study.)
