Transportation between Magone & Tsumago

My friend and I would like to do the walk between Magone and Tsumago. We will be travelling in October.

However, as we will have a car we need to return to our starting point and don't particular want to have to walk both ways. As far as I can ascertain there is a bus running between the two towns. However I can't tell if it runs in both directions in which case it won't matter which town we start at. Or does it run only in one direction? If so, which town would we need to start the walk from.
