Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to the Japanese language, so I need a little help with understanding a small statement.

"Hanase te ureshikatta."

I believe that it means "I'm very glad to speak with you." Or maybe it means something similar to that.

"Hanasete ureshikatta."

= I was delighted to able to speak (with you)."

The ending "ureshikatta" in ta-form indicates past tense.

Ah, I see. Thank you very much.

I don't know much about "te" form or past and present tense in Japanese. I wonder if there is a preterit form, as well.
