ISIC card in Japan

Hi,
I am going to Japan in summer and I would like to do as much sightseeing as possible. I am a student, I can get an international ISIC student card, but will it be of any help in Japan? Here in Europe, one can get discounted entry fees in museums etc, but I am not sure, if people in Japan know it at all.
