Nikko Using Japan Rail Pass

I understand that there are various discount passes with round-trip from Tokyo. But I intend to travel from the north down to Nikko using my Japan Rail Pass. Does anyone know if I am able to get a cheaper Nikko pass without the round-trip from Tokyo? Cos I would like to visit the temples, and have unlimited rides on the buses in Nikko and surrounding areas.
