I brought one and it worked fine.
I am going to Japan. Should I take my North American computer?
Shouldn't be a problem as long as you have the space and weight. Otherwise, cheap computers can be bought in Japan as well although I'd recommend bringing an English keyboard (a Japanese one will work but the punctuation marks are in different places)
