Hello:I,my hisband and my 16 year-old daughter have plan to visit her ex-host family in Matsumoto on 27 march to 9 April. I wonder if we should but 7 Day JR pass ticket and what kind of other tickets we should buy during Kansai trip. This is our plan.
Day 28 Tokyo
29 Edomura
30-31 Osaka Weekly mansion Otemae
1 April Kyoto Gojo Annex
2 Tokyo
3 Matsumoto
5-8 Tokyo (with friends in Tachikawa)
My daughter will stay overnight with her ex-host family in matsumoto 5-8 April.
We plan to start JR ticket on 29 March, do you think it is good ?

A 7 day JR Rail Pass started March 29 is valid till April 4th included, so it covers all your long distance travel Tokyo - Osaka - Tokyo - Matsumoto - Tokyo and is cheaper than single tickets when you return to Tokyo not later than April 4th. Or you start March 30 ( and Edomura by Toburailway extra ) and return from Matsumoto April 5th.
