Cheapest way from Hakodate to Kyoto? 2008/3/19 20:03
I am planning a vacation to Kyoto from Hakodate this June. So far I have figured that I would proabably have to take a plane to Haneda. However, from Tokyo, what is the cheapest way to get to Kyoto? Ive heard the bus system is the cheapest method. However, how does one reserve that? And about how much does it cost to catch the bus from Tokyo to Kyoto?

Another alternative would be to catch a plane to Osaka. WOuld catching a bus from there be cheaper?

I welcome any suggestions about getting from Hakodate to Kyoto.

Thanks for your help!

Book and buy a ticket directly to Osaka via ANA's website.

http://www.ana.co.jp/eng/

Buy the ticket as soon as tickets go on sale, two months prior to departure. The 'Tabiwari' fare is a good deal. It's available between 2 months and 28 days prior to the flight date. The number of seats is limited.

e.g. Hakodate to Osaka Kansai: 14,900 yen on 19th May

If you want to fly with JAL, you need to book over the phone.

They offer similar fares.

Bus timetable from Kansai Airport to Kyoto:

Prices: 2,300 yen (one way), 3,800 yen (return, valid for 14 days)
