Just left Japan on the 11th. Kyoto blossoms were floating down, looked like Hiroshima area was already in full bloom so has ended as well. Good luck in search.

Hi, It is going up to Tohoku area, but doesn't seem to reach Hokkaido now. So you could enjoy cerry blossoms in like Akita, Yamagata, Iwate, Aomori,Miyagi prefectures.
Sure it's already gone in Tokyo area.

It is an exceptionally early season for northern Japan this year. Yesterday the cherry trees opened their blossoms in Sapporo, 14 days ahead of the usual schedule, and today in Hakodate, 11 days ahead of usual schedule. Aomori and Hakodate are the areas, where you should be able to see blossoms in late April: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2011.html
