Is this Kyoto hotel in a good location? 2008/4/25 02:27
I've been looking for some hotels for a 1 week stay in kyoto (so will be visiting all the major areas of the city), and found a decently priced hotel on japanican.com:

Since i have no idea where its located, i was wondering if it was in a good location.

If not, does anyone have any suggestions for moderately cheap hotels in a good location?

Thanks!

I have just returned from Kyoto and I saw this Toyoko Inn located at Shijo which is located within the shopping/restaurant and walking distance to Gion district. I think it's more convenient relatively. At night when most of the attractions are closed, this is a good place to find dinner and walk around.

I was staying at Toyoko Inn Gojo which was two bus stops down the street from Shijo.

I got the City Bus day pass for 500yen for unlimited travel by bus which brought me to all the attractions.

Of course it is in a good location! near the subway and Nijo castle, a most interesting castle and a major attraction. Did you google a map of Kyoto yet? it will help you to get your bearings. By the way that hotel has a shuttle to/from the JR Kyoto station.
