Don't forget you can search in the "search this site" box on the left hand side for common travel questions. I just searched for "gion" for your answer. Hope this helps!

Pontocho is right accross the river from Gion.
Heading from Gion to central Kyoto on Shijodori, cross the Kamo River on the right side of the bridge. The entrance to Pontocho is the first alley after the bridge.
