Does the Japan Rail pass cover buses & subways within cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto & Nara pls ? Thanks !

Does the Japan Rail pass cover buses & subways within cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto & Nara pls ?

It only covers JR trains (and local JR buses, which are very few in number).

In Tokyo, there are a few useful urban JR trains, especially the JR Yamanote Line, which gets you to many of the places of interest. Subways and other non-JR trains, however, are not covered:

Osaka also has a somewhat useful urban JR network, especially the JR Osaka Loop Line. But again, subways and buses are not covered:

In Kyoto, JR trains are not useful. The much more useful subway and buses are not covered:

In most other cities, JR trains are not very useful for urban transportation, either.
