Hakone ryokan reccommendation & luggage 2008/5/8 16:12
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has a reccomendation for a lovely traditional ryokan in Hakone - does not have to be luxury, just something nice and comfortable and has an onsen.

Budget up to $200US for two people.

Also we are going to hakone for 2 days and doing the sightseeing course (coming from Tokyo and onto Kyoto), where should we leave our luggage - dont really want to lug it about. Perhaps we can leave our big bags at the train station and take limited supplies for the overnight stay. Or if we found central accomm we could drop it off?

thanks very much!

luggage in Hakone 2008/5/8 19:37
I am afraid you cannot leave your luggage in a locker at Odawara station overnight. So an option might be to send your big bags by the takkyubin service from your Tokyo hotel to your Kyoto accommodation. For Hakone have only small carry on with you. Otherwise look for an accommodation in Hakone Yumoto, go there direct the first day, leave luggage and return afternoon for room check in.

Why not? Most lockers can be used for up to three calendar days!

When you search the following HP, you can find a gRyokanh and a hotel in Hakone. Please confirm the content well and take care about the distance from the station.
«@It is possible to reserve it by the Internet in English.

It is a famous hotel where the emperor and Chaplin also stayed though the price is a little high.
