Does anyone know if I can catch a JR train from Tokyo to Koyasan? I can't seem to find information on this, only information from Osaka to Koyasan.

To go to Koyasan from Tokyo, you have to go to Osaka first (you probably arrive at Shin-Osaka station) and then follow the same route. You can look it up at hyperdia: http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi-english/hyperWeb.cgi
