I know the first part means a giraffe,i have heard about the myths but don't know the "zeru"part.

Kirin is also a brewery company, and "Zero" is one of its products, a beer like "happoshu":

Actually, while "kirin" in modern usage does mean the giraffes, the one used by Kirin Brewery for their logo is a legendary animal, shape of which you must have seen on their label :)
