if the until date stated in the landing permission is on 30 May 2008..it will not be considered as overstaying if i depart on 30 May itself??

Leaving on 30 May 2008 would be fine. You would become an illegal overstayer if you were still in Japan on 31 May 2008.

That date is in the past.

Hi, I had this exact issue... I`m from canada, like most countries I`m given 3 months, by that is the same as 90 days. I orignally had my trip set from April 29th - July 29th, but that was 92 days. I got it changed to July 22nd to be on the safe side. Do not over stay your visa, even 1 day over and you may see some jail time, get a large fine and have a 5 year banishment. Best of luck, your travel agent should know these things.

oh wait I didnt read the question properly, ahh sorry, as anon said though, don`t over stay your visa, you will be in serious trouble if you do. Landing permission I believe is the maximum stay your allowed.
