Osaka to kyoto

Hi, i'm planning for a holiday to Osaka, 1 day Osaka and 1 day Kyoto. Can I buy the 1 day Jr West pass Yen2000 and travel in and out of Kyoto within 1 day, cos I'm not planning to stay overnight in Kyoto.

Thanks for the reply. I will be staying at the Cross Hotel in Osaka, beside doing shopping the whole day, is there any nice place I must visit in Osaka and kyoto ?
