I opened an account with Sumitomo Mitsui Bank while I was studying abroad in Japan, but did not actually officially close the account before I left the country. I never used it (I signed up for it under a misunderstanding through my school) and it has no money in it - basically, it's an empty account that's never been used. Does anyone know how I can close this account from overseas? Or, does the bank close it automatically? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

The account will become a slumber account after 10years of non-transaction period and eventually be extinguished automatically. So you don't need to bother about.
