Hakone to Mt Fuji

Hi Friends,

I am planning for 2 day trip to Hakone. Out of that I m thinking of 1 day visit to Mt Fuji (just till the 5th station by Bus).

Can someone guide me about the shortest route and bus details from Hakone to Fuji 5th station. Does anyone have idea abt how long will it take from Hakone?

I recommend as bilow.

Hakone-JR Gotebba Station(Odakuyu bus or Hakone Tozan Bus) (40minutes)
JR Gotemba station-Mt.Fuji 5th station Subashiri-guchi
(Fujikyuko bus) (60minutes)

Unfortinately there is no English time table.
Many buses run in summer season.

Could someone advise does it really worth to go to 5th station and come back?? Or should I go to Fuji five lacks.. little bit confused.

If I purchase round trip ticket then do I need to come back in the same bus. I think I can stay there for few hours and come back.

Hello, thanks for having interest in visiting Hakone area, closed to my home town.

I am not sure which round trip ticket you are purchasing but it seems you need to pay extra fare to goto Mt Fuji 5th station (5gome).

Buses are available from Gotemba station (JR Gotemba line) and Shin-Matsuda Station (Odakyu line),compared the both stations, more buses available from Gotemba station.

I have no idea whether it's worth to visit 5gome, it really depends on what you want to see or feel important.

I would recommend to see the scenery of Mt. Fuji from Otome Toge (Otome Pass).

Hakone Tozan Bus runs buses line thru Sengoku area and Gotemba station, you will see the clear and close shape of Mt Fuji perfectly.

IMHO, you could enjoy the beautiful Fuji from Lake Kawaguchi or Lake Yamanaka the weather permitting.

1) Togendai to Gotemba Station by Hakone Highway Bus

It runs mostly every 30 minutes from 6:40 to 18:30 on a departure basis, takes 35 minutes and costs 990 yen, which can be covered by the Hakone Free Pass.

2) Gotemba to Kawaguchiko Station by bus

It runs with the interval between 30 and 70 minutes from 8:10 to 20:00 on a departure basis, takes 70 minutes and costs 1,470 yen each way.

3) From Kawaguchiko to the 5th Station, and also to Shinjuku

I might recommend you to make a circle trip of Shinjuku - Hakone - Kawaguchiko - Shinjuku.

There are various busses to the varoius 5th level stations. Beware there are fewer busses before the school summer break. The tickets are sold round trip, But will run something like Noon there and 4pm back. All there might be is a tourist station selling souveneers and a trail leading up. I've only been to 2 of the 5, but not much there and you can't see the mountain or get any sence of it. They were at the tree line and you could only see up and since you are on it, it's just a horizon. Of couse you could hike up for a couple hours while waiting for the bus and see the view of the counryside.

I will be travelling from Osaka to Hakone to Mt Fuji. How should I go about and should I stay overnight at Hakone or Mt Fuji?

When you write "Mt.Fuji", do you mean the Fuji Five Lake region?
