We are going to visit Oriase stream valley and Lake Towada on November 30, 2008. We wonder if the Autumn leaves color will still be seen or it will be too late. How much time should we spend. We start our excursion from Hachinohe. Will it be possible to do it in one day.

It is about one month too late to see autumn leaves along Oirase stream.

Thank you very much Uji. You are always dependable.
We plan to visit Kenroku-En garden in Kanazawa on November 8,2008. Will it have a good scarlet maple leaves to view.
Our plan is not finalized and can be change. We will have two weeks from November 2. Where do you suggest the best places to see Koyo (Autumn leaves).

I am afraid, the first half of November is usually a little bit too early for colorful maple leaves in Kyoto and Kanazawa. It is usually better in the second half of November.

In early November, you would have to either travel into higher elevations or northern Japan. If you plan to be in the Kansai/Chubu region, I recommend to plan a trip into the mountains of central Japan.
