Saitama-Furano free with JRPass? 2008/7/6 21:48
Hi,

I am planning on going to Furano for a short trip. I will be statying at my grandmas house in a small town, close to Kawagoe.

Do I understand correctly, that the following route should be totally free with JRPass?

Kawagoe - Omiya (JR Saikyo-sen)
Omiya - Hachinohe (Shinkansen Hayate)
Hachinohe - Aomori (Ltd. Exp. Tsugaru)
Aomori - Sapporo (Night Exp. Hamanasu)
Sapporo - Takikawa (Ltd. Exp. Super Kamui)
Takikawa - Furano (JR Nemuro Line)

Also is there any other easier route?

Thanks very much for help.

Yes, it is "free" with a Japan Rail Pass. You pointed out the "easiest" route. You might also want to look into flying there. It is much faster and can also be cheaper (except during peak seasons):

Hi, thanks for confirmation.

I already bought the 21 days pass since Im planning to do a couple of trips around Japan.

Long travel times are no problem for me, so its OK.

Once more, thank you very much.

Regards, Keishi
