transit passengers

I am flying into Narita from Australia arriving at 10 AM. My next flight to the USA does not leave until 6pm. If I am in transit am I permitted to leave the airport? If so is there anything nearby or interesting to see that I could do in 5 hours or so? A tour would be great if any are available from the airport.

I recommend to use Narita city round trip bus as above site and go sightseeing of Naritasan Shinsho-ji temple.

Thanks so much for your responses, I will check that out. I've been once to Yokohama and loved it, wish I could stay longer, but would like to see something while I'm waiting for my flight. Cheers! Trish

The procedures at Narita Terminal 1 after disembarkation from the plane to catching the train to Tokyo ( in your case maybe to Narita City by Keisei Line ).
