Will nikko be crowded Thu-Fri in Oct?

Me and my brother are going to Nikko from Tokyo on October Thur-Fri, October 16-17 returning Saturday morning.

QUESTION 1). Will Nikko be packed with tourists that time of thr week, usually? (Frst timers to Japan. And we were hoping to experience a more calm atmosphere & spiritual aspect of the temple sights).

QUESTION 2). Will the Onsens and "Romantic Road Highway" be crowded as well?

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.

It is crowded in the season of colored leaves even if weekday.
You had better arrive in Nikko area in the early morning.
As for onsen, I think it is
not very crowded on weekday because grouop tours do not enter there.

Anybody can give suggestion, is Nikko crowded on 31 Dec - 2 Jan ? Onsen open? We want to feel the Japanese culture on the new year.
