4 day trip Tokyo-Kyoto-Mt. Koya-Tokyo 2008/7/20 17:54
Hey guys. I'm traveling to Japan in two weeks and was planning to spend two weeks in Tokyo as my friend lives there and is willing to show me around. However, I was also thinking of taking a side trip to Kyoto, spending two nights there, then traveling to Mount Koya and spending the night at a temple, before returning to Tokyo the next day. Does this sound like a realistic plan?

How hard would it be to get around Kyoto and Mount Koya if I speak no Japanese? And how can I reserve a spot at a temple at Mount Koya?

Thanks in advance!

It is possible, but very packed. Okay if you like a very fast pace of travel. Travel times are considerable, especially between Koyasan and Tokyo. Use this guide to research:

It can be very easy, especially if you prepare your trip in advance.

And how can I reserve a spot at a temple at Mount Koya?
