Ryokan in Tokyo 2008/8/12 14:22
Please recommend a good and affordable Ryokan in Tokyo, preferrably accessible to train stations.

Any reviews on Sadachiyo or Asakusa Ryokan Shigetsu?

Thank you very much!

Although I have never stayed here, I have heard good things about it:

Also take a look at:

Not as well located, but cheap.

Ryokan in Tokyo 2008/8/13 23:28
Hi. I've stayed in the Katsutaro Ryokan in both Ueno and Nippori. Very reasonable prices, friendly/helpful staff. Both very close to train stations.

Sawanoya 2008/8/14 02:54
I've always taken the room without bath. The ones with bath also is always gone very early. The one without bath is cheaper anyways, and if you are not too picky ie having a bathroom in your room, then it's not a problem. The ones without still has a sink so you can still brush in your room

No more rooms 2008/8/14 10:08
I'm so disappointed. Sawanoya only has a twin room available on the 1st day of my arrival. For 2nd day, only single room is left, and it would be really small for 2 persons.

No reply from Katsutaro 2008/8/14 19:46
Have emailed Katsutaro twice using their website reservation form but still no reply. Am getting anxious as a lot of ryokans are fully booked already.

Annex Katsutaro 2008/8/17 19:14
I stayed at Annex Katsutaro in 2006, and made the reservation through the form on their website. They replied the next day. It's too bad they're not replying to you, otherwise I'd recommend them as well!

It's the only place I've stayed at Tokyo, so I'm afraid I can't recommend any other ryokans from personal experience. I found Ryokan Kangetsu (kangetsu.com) from my bookmarks though. It's something I considered, but thought it looked like more difficult to access. But the website looks nice.

Sorry you can't get thru to the Annex Katsutaro....

Have you tried above website - both the Annex and main Katsutaro are listed there....plus numerous other places that are probably in your budget....

How soon is your trip?

Good luck!
