Catch the Hakone Tozan Line from Hakone-Yumoto, and catch the Shinkansen Hikari to Shin-Osaka and change to another train.
Odawara 8:09 -- 10:30 Shin-Osaka 10:38--(Shinkansen Kodama)--10:53 Shin-Kobe
Odawara 10:09 -- 12:30 Shin-Osaka 12:38--(Kodama)--12:53 Shin-Kobe
12:09 -- 14:30 Shin-Osaka 14:39--(special rapid, not Shinkansen)--15:05 Sannomiya
14:09 --16:30 Shin-Osaka 16:38--(Kodama)16:53 Shin-Kobe
16:09 -- 18:30 Shin-Osaka 18:38--(Kodama)--18:53 Shin-Kobe
18:09 -- 20:30 Shin-Osaka 20:39--(special rapid)--21:06 Sannomiya

thanks for your great help.
Means it's easier for me to take the kodoma shinkansen from Odawara.
Can you also advise me if i will to leave Hakone by 1pm. What time should i depart from Shinjuku station so that i can complete Hakone in half a day, i plan to visit Owakudani, and curise around Lake Aishi and is it better for me to purchase the 2 days Hakone Free Pass?

--Means it's easier for me to take the kodoma shinkansen from Odawara.-- No, no, Kodama takes one hour longer than Hikari from Odawara to Shin-Osaka, and the price id all the same. e.g. Odawara 16:37--(Kodama)--19:53 Shin-Osaka --Can you also advise me if i will to leave Hakone by 1pm. What time should i depart from Shinjuku station so that i can complete Hakone in half a day, i plan to visit Owakudani, and curise around Lake Aishi and is it better for me to purchase the 2 days Hakone Free Pass?-- You need to catch the first Romance Car leaving Shinjuku at 7:00hrs and arriving at Hakone Yumoto at 8:39. The so called Hakone Loop takes 4 to 5 hours to complete. http://www.odakyu.jp/english/rc/rc_timetable_a01.htmlHakone Free Pass: http://www.odakyu.jp/english/freepass/hakone_01.htmlYou might purchase the 2-day Hakone Free Pass originating at Odawara for 3,900 yen. If you are lucky, you can catch the 13:07 Kodama from Odawara. Odawara 13:07--(Kodama)--14:30 Hamamatsu 14:36--(Hikari)--16:19 Shin-Kobe The next one is the 14:09 Hikari listed above. hi,
Would that means i can't purchase the Hakone Free Pass from Shinjuku @ Yen 5000/ticket so that i can save some $$?
Base on your information i think it will be better for us to catch the Hikari train at 14:00 plus but what is the price for the Shinkansen ride from Odawara to Kobe (Sannomiya) and how many transfer would i need?
Sorry for so many questions, as this is my first time free and easy in Japan, thus really have blur on the railway operations.

You could purchase the Hakone Pass originating at Shinjuku, but you are supposed to use only for one way (You are leaving for Kobe from Odawara,), and the base fare from Shinjuku to Odawara is 850 yen, so you'd lose 250 yen. (The pass from Odawara is 3,900 yen.)

Odawara 14:09--(Hikari)--16:30 Shin-Osaka 16:39--(special rapid)--17:06 Sannomiya
Price: 12,900 yen

First time f&e: please look at transportations/ trains/ passes under A-Z right at the top of this site to familiarize yourself with trains in Japan. Check www.hyperdia.com or http://www.jorudan.co.jp/englishfor trains schedules and fares. before using Hyperdia pls read help etc. to understand the symbols. You can also type any question you have in the small window right above the list of all the questions and get all the posts about similar questions.
