Romanji translation needed. 2008/8/15 03:48
Could someone please translate this for me, and tell me if this is proper?

This person often spouts out Japanese on a board I frequent, but I think he is using Babelfish or a translator of some sort.

See below:

"jiu"? ... surangu desuka? Wakarimasen ..... Nihongo ga chotto dake hanasemasu. Nihongo ga hanasemasuka?

Thank you.

Jocephus,

It translates as...

"jiu"? ... Is that slang? I'm not sure... I can only speak Japanese a little. Can you speak Japanese.

I'm not a Japanese native, but the Japanese looks OK to me. Maybe slightly textbook-style, but it doesn't look like the gibberish online translators usually spit out.

I agree. It looks like the Japanese of a person who has only been learning the language for a short time and isn't familiar with colloquial Japanese, so is using textbook forms. He says that he speaks a little Japanese, which is probably true!
