I would like to know if you feelit is worth spending the extra money for a first class JR pass instead of a regular or coack class. I will be traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto and Hiroshima over a weeks time with a carry on bag. I plan to mostly use the hikari shinkansen. Also how do I go about reserving seats ahead of time? Thanks.

in your case, i guess an ordinary pass will do. i myself shift from ordinary to green (first) class after using it a couple of trips ago. i love using green as i travel very frequent during the 7 days and 8 nights (night train with first class seat is more comfortable)
