Sandy, you can use your JR pass on all JR lines in Tokyo.
see http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/info/map_a4ol.pdf
From Ikebukuro take the Yamanote to Tokyo and follow the signs..........a long, long way to the Keiyo line OR go to Yurakucho and get the Keiyo line from there. See this map
http://www.mapion.co.jp/c/f?uc=1&grp=MapionBB&nl=35/40/19.89...
Yurakucho is the tan coloured station and the Keiyo line is the one cutting through it at the top BUT it is underground. The entries are marked with "D"numbers
Happy to talk to you from Melbourne by phone or email.

JR Pass and city tour 2008/8/18 23:23
Sandy,

Note that well-known JR Pass is usefull when you do interegional travels such as Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka or Kyoto - Hiroshima.

You can buy more reasonable tickets such as SUICA if you travel only within and around Tokyo. :)

Damn, i'm leaving tonight for Tokyo, I was planning on getting one of these, and now i've noticed they have to be bought outside of Japan. Is there any chance I could get one by tonight? Does anyone know how lengthy the process is?
Thanks.

Purchasing a JR Rail Pass voucher is very easy and takes only a few minutes. You just need to find an agent near you that sells them.

This page has lists where the vouchers are sold:

So you just call them up to reserve one and then go and pick up the Exachange Voucher from them?
Thanks for the help!
