Kintetsu Rail Pass - buy in Japan? 2008/8/17 17:41
Hi
Just wanted to check where I can buy the Kintetsu Rail Pass. On the Japan-guide website it states that the Pass can be bought at the Kansai Airport:

"Points of Sale

Outside of Japan, the Kintetsu Rail Pass can be purchased through Kintetsu International or an affiliated travel agency. When purchasing the pass, you will receive an exchange order, which has to be exchanged into an actual rail pass after your arrival in Japan. The exchange can be done at Kinki Nippon Tourist travel agencies in Japan.
Inside Japan, the Kintetsu Rail Pass can be purchased only at Osaka's Kansai Airport." (http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2357_006.html)

However, on the KINTETSU website it states:

"Please purchase Exchange Orders for KINTETSU RAIL PASS at one of the authorized travel agents before coming to Japan. The pass cannot be purchased in Japan."(http://www.knt.co.jp/kokusai/krp/index.html).

Does anyone know what is correct - can I purchase the pass at Kansai Airport or not?

thanks

On the safe side, buy it before going to Japan, it doesn't cost more. We bought ours this April in Hong Kong before arriving KIX.

Confirmed today that it is possible to buy the pass in Japan - but only at the Travel Desk at Osaka's Kansai Airport.

cheers
