Ryokan in Hakone 2008/8/18 00:40
I need help. I am in need of a ryokan onsen in Hakone or Mt. Fuji, can you help me! I am a single female traveler and I speak English. I arrive in Hakone or Mt. Fuji (Where ever I can find a place to stay) on August 30th, 08 to September 1st, 08. Can someone help me. No more than 250/300$ per night but my main concern is finding a place that is available those dates and that is nice. Can somebody PLEASE help me? Thank you....

K's House 2008/8/18 11:45
Kawaguchiko is in that area, and in that town there is a youth hostel called K's House.

K's House is an EXCELLENT hostel and should only set you back around $30US (more for a smaller/more private room). They are very spacious, but also very popular. The staff speak English quite well, so it is possible to call them.

is a useful site for planning hotels. The site requires you to book your stay two weeks in advance, but they have desks in the Narita airport, Kyoto's train station and a few other places where the staff can help you find and book ryokan, minshuku, hostels or hotels.

For a family traveling, I'd suggest staying away from business hotels and capsules. I never had a business hotel that was any good (though the rates were cheap).
