American animators in Japan? 2008/8/25 14:04
Hi, I'm american and I am planning to become an animator. I would like to move to japan and work with anime. Does anyone know if there are many, or little americans who become animators for anime in japan?

This has been discussed a couple of times before and I would encourage you to dig up some of those threads.

A lot of the animation work of Japan has been outsourced to Korea. It is my guess that since there are a lot of young Japanese wanting to do the same job, a Japanese animation company is unlikely to employ a foreigner who is maybe not fluent in Japanese and for whom they have to do a lot of work and spend money to organize the proper visa.
Still everything is possible and other Americans have worked in the anime industry as animators.
