Osaka/Kyoto/Nara 2008/9/7 20:33
I am going to Osaka for business trip from 16 to 19 Sep morning. This is my 1st time to Japan.I am thinking of going from Osaka to Nara on 20 Sep,Nara to Kyoto on 21 Sep and head back to Shanghai on 21 Sep. Can you advise how to go from Osaka to Nara and from Nara to Kyoto? How much is the train fare? Are there English words in the train station as I do not know Japanese. Thanks a lot.

Irene take a look at
http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi-english/hyperWeb.cgi
it will answer the times and fares questions.
The stations will be named in English as well as Japanese. The stations will have scrolling information displays that will change from Japanese to English.
Japan National Tourism Organisation JNTO will provide you with good tourist brochures on request.

do the day trips 2008/9/8 12:23
Irene,

It's advisable for you NOT to change your base city when you stay in Kansai Region. The cities are not far apart and you dont need to carry your suitcase from one city to other.

It's lucky for you to visit the best region to see historical & traditional Japan. :)
