Autumn sightseeing

Hi
I intend to go for Autummn sightseeing(kouyou) for 2 wks during Mid Oct to End Oct. I'll be starting my trip fm Nagoya, any suggestion where & how shall I plan my itinerary, I intend to travel down south to kyushu.

You will have to travel northwards (Tohoku, Hokkaido) or into higher elevations (e.g. Japanese Alps) in order to see autumn leaves as early as October. Kyushu does not see much autumn colors until November, except in the higher elevations in central Kyushu.

We are looking at next year - possibly going for fall colors. What is the ave temp in November / weather, if that is the best time to go?
