Please advise on proposed Itinerary

Itinerary for Japan

April 10-19, 2009
Day 1- 2 Travel from California
Day 3 Tokyo (Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, Tokyo tower)
Day 4-5 Bullet train to Mt. Fuji, stay in Hakone (ferry on the lake, cable car and hike around Mt. Fuji)
Day 6-8 Bullet train to Kyoto, Osaka (Kinkaku-ji temple, Golden Pavilion, Sanjusangengo Temple)
Day 9 Train to Osaka - home

We are planning on buying a Japan Rail Pass and doing some local city tours. Our children are 11 and 16. Any suggestions on sites, tours or hotels would be great.

If you are arriving at Narita and exiting via Kansai Airport, the 7 Day rail pass will cost you more that single tickets. The Shinkansen doesn't go to Mt Fuji., nor would the rail pass be cover Hakone, please check these pages:

Day 6-8: Not sure what you mean by taking the train to "Kyoto, Osaka". These are two separate cities. Do you plan on visiting or staying in Osaka, or just Kyoto?
