we have a jr pass. how do we get from kyoto station to himeji then to kurashiki then back to kyoto station?

With JR Pass take the hikari shinkansen from Kyoto to Himeji, then the hikari shinkansen to Okayama and a local JR train to Kurashiki. Back from Kurashiki to Okayama and from there by hikari shinkansen to Kyoto, maybe you will have to change trains once in either Himeji or ShinOsaka. do we have to reserve these seats or do unreserved.They have unreserved seats, therefore, a seat reservation is not necessary. how often the jr line runs.Direct hikari trains between Kyoto, Himeji and Okayama run once per hour.
