8.30pm Osaka airport to Dotonbori 2008/9/12 07:31
Staying at the Dotonbori Hotel after arriving 8.30pm Osaka on Jetstar.
What's the best way to get to the hotel? Should I try to contact them to say we will be late (maybe 11pm )?

Kansai 2008/9/12 08:43
Harry
We arrived at Kansai on the same Jetstar flight which did not arrive until after 9.30pm due to delays and caught the Namba(Ocat) which departs every 20 minutes and takes 50 minutes to Osaka Central then took a taxi to our hotel.

Thanks. Is there a more direct way without the taxi necessary?
....and will the Dotonbori Hotel hold our room that late?

their suggestion 2008/9/12 12:45
advising us to refer to the official website :)

In any case, most of local ppl would take Nankai train when traveling from KIX to Namba area.

Assuming you clear customs at 9pm
There's a 9:14pm Nankai AirPort Line Exp train (940yen) directly to Nankai's Nanba station.
Of which it's a 10-15min walk to Hotel Dotonbori.

With luggages i find it was easier to walk underground rather than on the surface.

Just follow the signs towards Nanba Subway Station and look for Exit 25 which would be inside Namba Walks Underground mall
Here's a map

Thank you. Anybody know if the train or bus is a better choice at night and with a bag each?

Both the train and bus cost about the same, unless you get the Nankai Rapit Limited Express, this costs 400 Yen more, but worth it if you want to travel on a "future-retro" train:

Here is the bus information:

The distance from both bus and train terminals is about the same. Personally, I would take the rapit, if the timing was right.

No big difference 2008/9/12 20:08
There is no big difference, as RobBeer says. I'd take a train too because Airport limousine is often more "touristy" than a commuter train.

After a whole day flying from Brisbane, I'm not sure we need travel- with- the- commuter experiences that night, however we'll go with the favoured option and take whatever train goes first and walk to exit 25 and out. Thank you all.

It is not a good idea to get "whatever train goes first". If you get on the Nankai AirPort Line Local it stops at every station and takes 80 minutes to get to Namba. Get either the Nankai AirPort Line Express (47 minutes) or the Nankai Rapit (37 minutes).

Thanks Rob. Either of those two then.
