Nikko - Tobu Bus intermediate stops

I'm planning to do some hiking in Nikko National Park in a few weeks, which means I'll need to catch the bus back to Nikko Station at one of the minor intermediate stops along the way (probably Ryuzu-no-taki). Can I just hop on the first bus that shows up and pay on board, or do I need a ticket and/or reservation in advance?

You hop just on the bus and pay when exiting. Seat reservations are not possible.

Thanks, Uji.
I see that some of Tobu's bus operations accept Suica/PASMO. Do you know if the Nikko bus is one of them? (If nothing else, it makes calculating the fare a lot easier!)
